The Fabric Gift Wrap program is a project that came to me after attending my first Green Up Expo. The trade show inspired me to support the Green Up movement and help our planet.
For eight years I was a gift wrap buyer for a major department store, so I know first hand the enormous amount of paper used and waste created after a joyous holiday or celebration. It got me thinking about all the creative ways to use the fabrics and ribbons I’d collected over the years, and so I began wrapping gifts with them.
I experimented with natural and recycled adornments like fresh leaves, flowers and old jewelry to garnish the beautifully tied ribbons. I remember how delighted I felt presenting the gifts, and even more elated by how pleased the recipients were to receive and reuse the Fabric Gift Wrap.
I discovered that gift giving is an art that expresses how we feel to those we care about. When I give a beautifully wrapped present in fabric, I add an immeasurable value to my gift and the reusable wrap outside is a lasting reminder that I care about you and our environment.
